We can describe our drying science and equipment brands all day, but the work itself tells the story better. Below are representative before-and-after projects from San Jose homes: real problems, real scope, real outcomes. No staged glamour shots. This is what water, mold, and fire damage look like in Santa Clara County houses, and what a properly executed restoration looks like when the moisture is actually gone and the repair is done right.

Water Damage: Burst Supply Line in a Willow Glen Kitchen
The problem: a braided supply line under the kitchen sink let go overnight, flooding the kitchen, hallway, and into an adjacent dining room. The floors were engineered hardwood over a crawlspace, and the water had already begun wicking up the baseboards. What we did: we extracted standing water, pulled the affected flooring and wet drywall, then set up Dri-Eaz and Phoenix axial airmovers with Injectidry mats across the floor system. Technicians logged psychrometric readings, the industry’s way of tracking actual moisture levels, twice daily until the structure met dry standard. The result: the kitchen was rebuilt with new flooring, painted walls, and matching trim. The homeowner was eating in that kitchen again in under three weeks.
Mold Remediation: Crawlspace Colonization in Almaden Valley
The problem: a homeowner called about a musty smell that hung in the house even after cleaning. Under the home, we found widespread mold on the floor joists and subfloor, largely driven by a drainage issue at the foundation and high relative humidity, or RH, meaning the air itself was holding enough moisture to feed fungal growth. What we did: we isolated the crawlspace with proper containment, removed the affected insulation, treated the framing, and installed a new vapor barrier. A high-efficiency dehumidifier was left running until RH levels stabilized below the threshold where mold can grow. The result: the framing was clean, the humidity readings were in the proper range, and the house no longer smelled. The homeowner said it was the first summer they didn’t notice the smell when the AC kicked on.
Fire Damage: Garage Fire in Berryessa
The problem: an electrical fire started in the garage and spread smoke and soot through most of the home. The fire was contained to the garage, but smoke travels, and it had coated walls, ceilings, and contents throughout the residence. What we did: after the scene was cleared for entry, we secured the structure, removed the charred framing and fire-damaged drywall, and ran air scrubbers to clear airborne particulates. Structural cleaning followed: every surface wiped, HEPA-vacuumed, and sealed where necessary before primer and paint locked any remaining odor in. The result: the garage was rebuilt, the rest of the house smelled like nothing at all, and the family was back home without that burnt reminder in every room.
Water Damage: Leaking Shower Pan in a Downtown San Jose Condo
The problem: a slow shower pan leak had been seeping into the unit below for months before the staining showed up on the neighbor’s ceiling. The leak was invisible from above, but the subfloor told the story once we opened the ceiling below. What we did: we stopped the source, removed the saturated drywall and damaged subfloor layer, then placed Phoenix low-profile dehumidifiers and airmovers in a contained dry-out chamber. Drying logs, which track relative humidity and grain moisture readings, were reviewed daily until every layer met the dry standard. The result: the shower was re-waterproofed and retiled, the neighbor’s ceiling was patched and painted, and the condo association got a clean inspection report.
Water Damage: Washing Machine Hose Failure in Campbell
The problem: the rubber hose on a second-floor washing machine cracked during a spin cycle. Water ran down through the floor into the living room ceiling below, collapsing a section of drywall. What we did: we extracted the standing water on the second floor, removed the rug and padding, and cut out the wet portion of the ceiling below. A Dri-Eaz LGR dehumidifier ran alongside XPOWER airmovers, with daily moisture mapping so we knew exactly where the drying front was moving. The result: the subfloor dried in place, which avoided ripping up the upstairs laundry room entirely, and the living room ceiling was patched, textured, and repainted to match. The repair came in under the insurance estimate.
Fire Damage: Kitchen Grease Fire in East San Jose
The problem: a stovetop grease fire flashed up into the cabinets and vent hood. The fire was out fast, but soot and smoke had worked into the kitchen and drifted through the rest of the first floor. What we did: we removed the damaged cabinets, hood, and affected drywall, then ran an air scrubber and thermal fogger to neutralize smoke odor particles in the air and on surfaces. Every hard surface was cleaned with the appropriate agent, and soft goods that couldn’t be saved were documented for the insurance adjuster. The result: new cabinets installed, walls and ceiling repainted, and no trace of that acrid smell left in the house.
